Performance Division Guidelines Print
TAP
A routine consisting of tap technique.  This may include all forms if rhythm as a melodic accompaniment to music or acapella.  No acrobatics, props or clogging.

JAZZ
A routine demonstrating Jazz technique. Utilizing up-tempo music which executes styling and precision.  No props or acrobatics.

BALLET/POINTE
A routine consisting of ballet technique, including classical and contemporary ballet or Pointe work.

LYRICAL JAZZ/MODERN
A routine that interprets the lyrics and emotion of a song using a combination of ballet, jazz or modern technique.  Also demonstrating flexibility using balance and extension.  May  include a maximum of three acrobatic moves.  No props.

ACRO/DANCE
A routine executing gymnastics and tumbling passes, but must contain dance steps and choreography.

HIP HOP
A routine demonstrating free style, street dance and funk movements.  No props.

MUSICAL THEATER/CHARACTER
A routine interpreting a song from a “Broadway” or movie musical or portraying a character from a play with costuming and choreography.  Props are allowed.

OPEN
A routine demonstrating any style or combined dance style listed or not listed above.  Props, lip syncing, song/dance, clogging, pom pom, ethnic/folkloric, etc.
