Entry Guidelines Print
Solo, Duo/Trio, Small Group (4-8), Large Group (9-15), Line (16+)
AGE DIVISION: Petite: 8 & under, Junior: 9-11, Teen: 12-14, Senior: 15-18

Age is determined by the average age of each contestant.  Ages are determined as of the day of the competition.  When the average age ends in .5 or above, it is rounded up to the next age.  Ex.

Contestants will be Junior if their age or average age is 11.4 and under.
Contestants will be Teen if their age or average age is 11.5 years and above.
Contestants will be Senior if their age or average age is 14.5 years and above.

Regarding group averaging - a contestant will only be allowed to drop one age division (i.e. a group who averages 12-14 and who utilizes a 20-year old in the routine will only be allowed to compete in the 15-18 division).

MUSIC:

Each entry must be on a separate cassette tape or CD.  Please have a back-up tape or CD for each entry on hand. Music must be recorded on high quality tape.  Cassette tapes must be properly cued at the beginning of the music with a maximum o fa 3 second lead.  The back-up tape or CD need not be turned in unless there is a malfunction of the original tape.  Cassette tapes and CDs should include studio name, dancer, entry number, and title of music.  One routine per tape and/or CD.

TIME LIMITS:
Solos and duo/trios: 2 minutes and 45 seconds (2:45)
Small and Large groups: 3 minutes (3:00)
Line: 4 minutes (4:00)
Production: maximum 10 minutes


There will be a 25 point deduction for any overtime routines.  Timing will begin at the starting of the music to the last step danced.  Five second grace period will be allowed due to variations in recording equipment.  No minimum time requirement per routine; however, there will be a 25 point deduction to any number exceeding the time limit in their specified category.  Performers must enter and exit the stage in a timely manner.  After completion of a routine, please remove all props and debris from stage.

COMPETITION FEES:
Solos: $70.00
Duo/Trios: $40.00 per dancer
Small and Large groups: $27.00 per dancer
Line and Production: $25.00 per dancer

 

PROPS:

No fire, knives, weapons, or animals.  Motor vehicles may not be started.  Props involving electricity, including colored lights and fog, must be portable, self-contained and UL approved.  Curtains may not be closed for set up, except for Productions.  Specialty lighting requests are not permitted.
